I was a teacher for about 5 years before I had my son. I very rarely received gifts from my students because I worked at a school where the parent’s gift priorities were not on me, they were on their kids (like they should be.) When I did receive a gift from a student, it made me SO happy and feel so appreciated.
Now I did love those gifts but now that I’m thinking about the “teacher gifts” from a mommy point of view, I think I really know what teachers would like.

**You don’t need to buy a $50 gift card. Buy a $10 gift card to a coffee shop and we are happy!
I had this Lion Brand bonbons yarn pack from Blog Elevated and I was just saving it for a colorful project like this. I bought a little pack of silver paper clips and had all I need for a little pom pom bookmark.
These are the cutest tiny yarn packs in the world 🙂
Wrap the yarn around your three middle fingers about 100 times. Got my wedding ring in there and that was really tricky to get out 🙂 Pull the yarn off carefully and lay it down on the table.
Place a long piece of yarn under it and tie a REALLY tight knot in the middle to hold all of the string together.
Cut all of the loops to make the pom pom. As you can see, it’s a little messy and needs a trim. To get a good shape, flatten the pom pom out in several different directions until they all are the same circle all the way around.
All trimmed and ready to glue. Using your hot glue gun, dab a bit on the top of the paper clip and then wrap the back of the pom pom around it. The yarn will cover up the glue.
Here are three all done. These only took about 2 minutes a piece and they are so cheerful. They remind me of the trees from the Lorax 🙂
Clip one to a great gift card or book and you have a thoughtful DIY teacher gift they would LOVE for Christmas, the first day of school, or any random Tuesday!

What are you getting your child’s teacher this year?
Love your creativity Deonna! These pom pom are adorable and look fairly quick and easy. A must have during the holidays.:)
They are super easy 🙂
Really no apple mugs?!? 🙂 I totally agree with you, simple is better! These pom poms are perfect and I love the idea of using them with a gift card, who doesn’t like a gift card? Your pictures are fabulous!!! xo
Thank you friend! Thanks I’ve really been working on my “stuff” photography 🙂 I need to practice more on my people photography but they move around!
Oh I love this idea! And yes! Teacher would rather have a $10 gift card for a bookstore or coffee shop than another apple mug. 😉
Hop over to my blog to enter both my giveaways. Pretty please!
