Cheap and Easy 5 dollar, 10 Minute, No Cutting Pillow Idea and Tutorial: the Child at Heart Blog Check out what my secret is for the EASIEST and cheapest pillow you will ever make!

Pillows are stinkin’ EXPENSIVE!  If you want one or two pillows for your house it could cost between 40 and 100 dollars!  That is a lot of money to spend on something that your kid is going to get grape jelly on in a week!  🙂

I have a little easy secret for fun pillows that are about 5 or 6 dollars if you use your Michaels or Hobby Lobby %40 coupon like the good crafter that you are!

All you need are two fabric napkins and some fiber fill for a cute and cheap pillow that’s great for the couch or beds!

My favorite place to find fabric napkins with great designs is World Market.  You could also check flee markets, antique stores, or garage sales.  I even think a fabric place mat or small linen towel could work too.

I found some seasonal napkins too and think that would be a great and cheap way to decorate for the holidays without breaking the bank.

For those who could sew in their sleep, basically you know what to do…sew the napkins right sides together, fill the pillow, and stitch it shut.

Now for people like me who actually have nightmares about our sewing machines, here are the step by step instructions:  🙂

Here are my two CUTE feather fabric napkins from World Market!  I ironed them after this picture was taken…

I placed the two napkins on top of each other with the right sides facing each other.  I didn’t pin them together but you could if you wanted to.

Load your coordinating thread into the machine and start sewing.  Now you can see here that my napkins weren’t exactly the same size so I just stayed to the inside of the smaller one.

Now this is important:  Make sure you stay inside the hem of the napkins so that when you flip them right side out, the hem from the napkin doesn’t show.  Just use the napkins original hem as a guide.

Sew almost all the way around leaving a few inches open for the stuffing.  Turn the pillow right side out and stuff the pillow with the fiber fill.  Make sure you use your Michaels, Joanns, or Hobby Lobby app to get %40 off of the fiber fill.  I used one small bag for this size of pillow.  Now stitch the pillow shut and you are DONE.  I stitched all the way around again just to make it extra strong.

I love how this turned out and it looks so great with my other pillows I use on my bed and couch in my bedroom!  When I get tired of it someday (which probably isn’t happening any time soon) I won’t feel guilty about ripping the stuffing out and making a new one with a different fabric because it was so cheap.

I made this shibori-inspired pillow for my son’s bed a long time ago the exact same way with some fun blue napkins!
