Am I the only one that has been daydreaming about decorating a girl’s nursery ever since Pinterest came out?
I wanted it to be a little southwest, a little boho, and a whole lot of fun! I also want the room to grow with her and be a little nontraditional too. I went with a fun color scheme and a few of my favorite things like the movie Sound of Music, dream catchers, and some fun printables and photos that I’ve been stalking online. Here is what I came up with and I can’t wait to add more personality to this room as she grows up!
I saw these dreamcatchers on Pinterest a million years ago and I saved them for when I decorated my living room someday. Then when it came time to decorate my baby’s room, I decided to use them in the nursery above the crib instead. I will be sharing a tutorial for these later but they are SO easy and can be changed later if you want different colors.
So here is my version! Click here for the full tutorial for these super easy tassel dreamcatchers!
I bought this floral buck pillow from Altar’d State and it was the inspiration for my color scheme in the room.
I added some simple white pom pom trim to this white lamp shade for a simple, girly upgrade.
I won this Sun Woven weaving in a Instagram giveaway and it’s one of my favorite parts of the nursery! I’ll probably steal it from her room someday. 🙂
For both kids, I have written in a calendar every day so that I will remember what we did during their first year. It’s so fun to look back and see how wonderful that first year really was…and remind you of things you forgot because you were so tired! This calendar is from Idlewild and it’s perfect for her room.
I hate cats…so bad…but when I saw this little tiny cat dish at Anthropologie I knew it had to be in the room! Hopefully I did not offend any cat lovers out there… 🙂 This little felt cactus is from Once Again Sam and it’s SO cute. My son loves to touch it since it’s the only cactus in town that won’t hurt him.
I wrote this little phrase as a reminder to be happy in the middle of the night when I’m changing my fifth diaper! 🙂
This gallery wall has so many fun pieces that are special to me or just fun!

I found this painting my Papa did and thought it would be really special in the room. I just painted the edges of the canvas to “frame” it. A painting my Nana did of a yucca plant is in my son’s room so it’s a fun way to always be thinking of them.
The Sound of Music is my favorite movie of all time and I watched it every day for about 5 years. It was a HUGE part of my childhood and I can’t wait to share that special movie with Allie.
This room is so sunny and cheerful and we have already had lots of fun in there and LOTS of good 4 hour naps. 🙂 I hope she always lets me decorate her room but I bet my days of that are numbered so I’m soaking it up while I can!

Allie’s rooms is stunning. I love how you went for a more unique approach. The colors, the art gallery wall, the dreamcatchers….I love them all. Really, really beautiful. (Allie is too!) xoxo
Thank you! Yeah I wanted it to be a room she could like for a long time instead of a “baby” nursery. We don’t have the money for a new room two years from now! 🙂
