DIY Tiny Plant Stand Tutorial for Table Top Plants with Gorilla Glue: the Child at Heart blog

I LOVE plants…I mean CRAZY PLANT LADY love them.  I have them in every single room and want them on every table, night stand, and shelf in the house.  The problem is that some planters can ruin a table or night stand in a hurry.  I wanted plants on my bedroom furniture but didn’t want to mess it up with a water ring…so I came up with a solution:  a tiny DIY Plant Stand.

This is the easiest tutorial I have shared in a long time and takes just a few minutes (not counting watching the paint dry.)  I used the new Gorilla Glue’s Gorilla Tough & Clear Mounting Tape and it made this project super fast and mess free.  This double-sided tape worked like a dream and created a bond so quickly, I could use my tiny plant stand 30 seconds later.

Here are the supplies you need for the Plant Stand:

Gorilla Glue’s Gorilla Tough & Clear Mounting Tape

Paint

one small round wooden circle from the craft store

3 wooden doll heads from the craft store

Paint your small wooden craft circle and wooden doll heads (I know that sounds REALLY creepy) whatever color you choose.  I chose this bronze color because it’s really versatile but just consider the planter’s color when choosing your plant stand color.  A really bright color would look great with a terra cotta pot but if your planter is colorful, you might want to stick to a neutral plant stand color.

Now take the Gorilla Glue’s Gorilla Tough & Clear Mounting Tape and cut some small squares that are just smaller than the bases of the wooden doll heads for the “legs” of the plant stand.  Place them on the bottom of the wooden circle in the 3 points of a triangle on the edge, peel the plastic off of the tape, and then push the plant stands legs on to the wooden circle.  The tape bonds instantly and after about 30 seconds you can use your new plant stand.

Tip:  This tape is obviously VERY sticky so use old scissors.

You are done!  I wanted to show you my plant stand in a few different places.  I know I will be making more of these because they take just a few minutes, protect your furniture, and are so stinkin’ cute!  They are also great for giving your plants varying heights on a shelf or a window sill.

This is where my tiny plant stand is going to live for a while, on my dresser in my bedroom.

If you want a plant stand that will go with anything, I recommend black, white, or a metallic like this one.  This Gorilla Glue tape is so strong that you could also create a slightly bigger plant stand, even for the outdoors.
