My future sister-in-law Tara is graduating from college this weekend and I wanted to just give her a little something for the occasion.  I bought a dollar tree composition notebook and just went crazy!
I didn’t do a step by step tutorial for it but basically I took a map from the computer of Lubbock where her and my brother met and are going to live.  I painted it with tea to give it that fun aged look.
I stamped a heart in the place where they met for a fun little detail since they are getting married very very soon.  I decoupaged that on the front and then did the rest of the back and insides in brown wrapping paper also from dollar tree.  I ordered some fun travel stickers from Hobby Lobby that all matched the same colors and also some pockets for their tickets and other small souvenirs.
I hot glued fun ribbon to the binding and for a tie to keep it closed.  I also painted a border all around just to add some more interest.  I put their names in the front with my Cricut and that’s about it.
I got a travel journal for us when we got married and we take it on trips and write in it and tape tons of stuff in it.  I love to look at it every once in a while.  It’s a great gift for a graduate either from high school or college.
I just painted some tea from the fridge right onto the white pages and let them dry completely.  Very simple and looks neat.
I usually crinkle up paper before I decoupage it onto something if it doesn’t matter if it looks a little messy.  I like the texture it creates.
Here’s a close up of the heart I stamped on the campus of LCU where I am pretty sure they met for the first time.
The final product-the front cover…that ribbon is so cute!  Why didn’t I buy more??
