Tell me if this sounds familiar…
Your bedroom door opens at 5:00 a.m. and it’s your little one acting WIDE awake. The problem is it’s still dark outside and you want that extra hour of sleep without your kid in your bed watching the Disney Channel. This was our life for about a year until we discovered something that really changed our mornings for the better: The Teach Me Time Talking Alarm Clock and Nightlight from Patch Products. This fun little clock not only kept our son in bed for another hour, but made it a fun way to wake up.
I’m giving one of these away at the end of this post so please enter!
This clock is very simple to use but can do SO much! It can be used to control when a toddler gets out of bed and can grow with them into a fully functional alarm clock and tool to help your child learn how to tell time. The parent’s get to decide what time their child gets out of bed and the clock will glow a soft green color when it’s time to get up.
This is the clock during the day. It has a yellow light that shows the clock’s face and your child can push the right “foot” of the clock to hear the time.
This is the back where the parents can decide when their child is allowed to get out of bed and set up the clock’s other features.
This is the clock when it glows green and lets your child know it’s okay to get out of bed. We have ours set for 6:15 now but will probably slowly move it back as he gets older. *Tip: Don’t set your kid’s clock to turn green at 8:30 when they have been waking up at 5:00. Slowly set it back by 15 minutes or so until they get used to that later time. This clock also makes a great night light for midnight bathroom trips!

The kids clock sounded like a great idea so I posted it in my article! 🙂

Hey girl! I am so glad we chatted today! I’m a subscriber to your blog now! (Something I had no idea how to do previously haha) I think I entered the giveaway for the clock, but in all honesty I have no idea if I did it right!!
Haha Yay! I’m glad you subscribed 🙂
I have always slept when my kids sleep. When they nap, I nap. When they go to bed at night, I might stay up a little later, but I’m usually not far behind them getting in bed. There have been mornings when they sleep late, and I sleep until they get up. It’s not a new tip necessarily, but it works 🙂
I’m about to move my toddler out of his crib, and I’m afraid that once he is “free”, he will be out of bed a lot earlier than he is right now. I hear him playing in his crib in the early hours of morning, but I’m sure he’ll be getting up once he’s in a big bed. I need this clock to teach him to stay put for a while!!
I’m pretty sure the night Cole was free to do whatever he wanted at night, me and Dane sat by the bed and I cried…I was sad he was growing up…and sad that he wasn’t in baby jail anymore 🙂
One thing that worked really well for my husband and I was to take shifts when we could and give each other completely protected sleep.
Hey Alona! We did that sometimes too but since I was nursing it didn’t work until after the first 10 months or so. But sometimes I would pump for about a week so that I could have just one night of uninterrupted sleep! 🙂
This would deff make things easier!! My tip is to try to nap when they nap!
Hey Dagmar! When I have a baby here in a few days I will be trying to do that too…unless my three year old is awake…then not sure about that! 🙂
I keep toys in my room by my bed or nurse her and put her back in bed, but that is not ideal. I can’t wait to teach my little one to understand a color changing clock like this one.
Hey Kristen! Yeah when they are really little you just do whatever you can to get by…I call it survival mode! 🙂
We’ve been trying to transition our daughter into her big girl room and this would greatly help.
Hey Sean! Yeah if I would have known about this clock when we switched my son to his big boy bed, I bet it would have been SO much easier!
Indeed!
If my kids have a good full dinner, they sleep longer. And also just letting them run around and getting all of that energy out helps 🙂 Thank you for the giveaway!
Hey Bianca! Yeah my son never eats a big meal because he’s a terrible eater and I think it really does make a difference. Maybe someday… 🙂
I wish I knew how to get more sleep.
Hey Manda! Don’t we all! 🙂
Tip for us for getting more sleep on the weekend is we set up a system where our daughter is aware that the longer she stays in her room either in bed or quiet time, she gets to play longer outside that day. So far it appears to work.
Hey Stafford! I told my husband about this idea and he loved it. I think it would work with our son because he constantly wants to go outside!
I think this would be very helpful in our home. My li’l one just runs right over and not knowing about personal space (granted he’s only 2 1/2) he starts tugging on my shoulders and gets in my face with his cute smile and says, “WAKE UP, WAKE UP, WAKE UP!” And won’t stop until I do. I don’t need a lot of sleep but this is daily even on weekends where he can sleep in.
Hey Alina! My son does the same thing and he really doesn’t understand that it takes adults a few minutes to wake up. He will understand how we feel when I am doing that to him in High School! 🙂
My tip is – My hubby stays up later than I do. So he takes over after 10 pm, so I get my sleep!
Hey Erin! Yeah my husband and I both go to sleep at around 8:00 like a 90 year old couple! That’s over in a few weeks when I have my baby. 🙂
