It’s the most wonderful time of year again! 🙂 I’m so excited to be partnering with Scotch® Brand to share some super easy wrapping ideas that will make your gift’s wrapping just as personal and special as the gift inside. I’m sharing 5 different ways to use their Scotch® Expressions Tapes and Scotch® Create products to create wrapping that is inexpensive but looks really great! I could have probably thought of about 50 more ways to use their washi tapes to decorate presents but these were my favorite! All of these ideas create reusable gift boxes so you can decorate them now and use them for years to come. Please check out all their great crafting ideas here for even more holiday inspiration!
I have tons of rolls of Scotch® Expressions Tapes laying around the house and I use them for wrapping, my calendar, and so much more. I basically never use clear tape anymore because this tape is SO much fun! I bought the tape for this project in WALMART’s craft aisle and packing aisle and they had so many fun color options for Christmas. Scotch® Brand basically makes everything you would ever need to wrap presents or craft and their washi tape is the BEST. I LOVE this turquoise and black and white stripe tape so much and they are great for Christmas and any other day of the year.
**For all of these ideas I used the basic white gift boxes that you can buy flat from the Christmas section at WALMART. No wrapping with paper makes these ideas even better! 🙂
1. The DIY Confetti Ribbon
This was my husband’s favorite box I made and I love it too. I just chose a few pieces of paper that I loved and went crazy with the hole punch to create this confetti. You could also buy confetti from the party or craft store if you wanted to. (Next time I will use paper that has pattern on both sides but I liked the white confetti too this time)
Make your “ribbon” pattern on the box with the Double Sided Tape from the Scotch® Create in any way you want. I know you can’t see it in the picture but it’s there…this tape in invisible!
I added some striped washi tape also from Scotch® Expressions and then just dropped my confetti on the Double Sided Tape and pressed down. I shook off the excess and added a few pieces of confetti where there was an empty space.
Tie a little bow and done!
2. The Washi Tape Stickers
I think discovering I could make stickers with washi tape is probably the best thing I’ve learned all year! 🙂 I researched this one a TON after some failed attempts and there is a simple way to make them and all you need is great tape, wax paper, and a shape punch.
First take two strips of wax paper that are just a little bit wider than the punch you are going to use…my star punch was pretty tiny so I didn’t need much.
Overlap the strips of wax paper just a tiny bit and then add your tape to the top of the strips. Hopefully this picture below shows you what that should look like…if not ask me in the comments if you need more help.
Now flip the paper upside down where you can see the overlap. Each time you punch out your shape, the overlap of wax paper needs to be in the center of the shape. This will help when you try to peel the wax paper off of the “sticker.”
Wow my finger nail looks SUPER here! 🙂 I need to use some lotion before I craft next time! Now just peel both sides of the wax paper off of your stickers and place them wherever you want.
My 3 year old son put these stickers on the box and then I just tied a bow and added some more washi tape for the tag.
3. Washi Tape Snowflake and Candy Canes
This was my favorite washi tape idea by far because it was SO easy and so pretty all at once. Just create a simple cross and x and make sure to use your scissors to make a clean edge.
Then add tiny pieces of the same color of washi tape in a little v pattern all around.
Use some cute ribbon or twine to tie on your candy cane and then take some extras with you in case one breaks in the car on the way to Grandma’s house.
4. Washi Tape Pendant Embellishments
I have done washi tape pendants TONS before and love them on gift sacks and wreaths but they work great for wrapping boxes too.
Just fold the washi tape over the ribbon or twine and then cut a small triangle out of the bottom.
Add some extra ribbons or pom pom trim and it makes such a cheerful and happy gift!
5. The Washi Tape Christmas Tree
This was my son’s favorite gift and it was basically the same concept as the star stickers but on a larger scale. First overlap two larger pieces of wax paper and then mark off the size of your box with washi tape so you don’t waste tape.
Create a pattern with your washi tape in that area you marked off. You could do any pattern but just make sure to press the tape down really well so that it sticks to itself later on.
Cut out a large triangle tree shape and then carefully remove the wax paper back and place on the box.
I added a washi tape star sticker to the top and then added a tiny strip at the bottom for the tree trunk.
If you sticker comes apart while you are peeling it from the wax paper, just piece it back together on the box.
BONUS IDEA: Branches Washi Tape Pattern
I made one more box with this tape because I love the colors so much. This was just a little branch pattern but if it was done in all red, I realized it would look like a baseball for your little guys gifts!
In my opinion, Scotch® Brand makes the best washi tape I have used so far. It sticks really well but can also be peeled off if needed. Go check out their site for more inspiration and ideas! Please share your pictures of your washi tape wrapping ideas with me on Instagram and Twitter!
