If you know me, I think tassels make everything better so when I was making my star ornaments, I just kept them very simple but I love the result. I partnered with Oriental Trading this month to make some ornaments and these were one of my favorites because they are so simple but really pretty on the tree. I would do an entire tree in them if I could.
Here’s what you need:
You need to punch a hole in the top of the star first. Then take your little embroidery floss bundle and just barely pull two small strings out for the tassel and keep the rest as it was.
Tie one of the strings around the center really tight and knot it.
Then pull the sides together to form the tassel. Tie the other string around just a half inch or so from the bottom and tie another knot. Wrap each end around a few times and then knot it again. Trim off the bottom ends and your tassel is done!
I just tied a bell on the top of each tassel and attached it to the star for a simple star ornament you can use for years. I think this would also make a REALLY cute garland if you strung them all together with some jute or yarn.
